Faïenceries Algériennes begins sanitaryware production
The Algiers-based group Faïenceries Algériennes, Algeria’s largest tile producer, has entered the sanitaryware sector as part of a new industrial project aimed at meeting its distributors’ needs for a more comprehensive range of bathroom furnishing products.
The new production site is located in Rouiba close to one of the group’s seven tile manufacturing facilities. It was designed and built in close cooperation with S.R.C. Engineering of Dormelletto (Novara, Italy), which completed the start-up of the first pilot unit for the production of WCs, bidets and washbasins in June this year.
As well as organising the supply of process equipment by Italian suppliers, S.R.C. Engineering was commissioned to build the laboratory and provide complete technological know-how for the production of Vitreous China and Fine Fire Clay articles. It also delivered laboratory and process control methodology, provided on-site training of technicians and production personnel and guaranteed continuous technical support.
The pilot unit is the first step in a broader project which will be gradually implemented in collaboration with S.R.C. Engineering. Faïenceries Algériennes unveiled its new line of sanitaryware products last May at the exhibition Batimatec in Algiers, where it was very well received.
