Gaiotto opens a new plant in Piacenza

Gaiotto, the Sacmi Group member company specialising in the design and marketing of solutions for industrial automation, including robots and product handling systems, will officially open its new premises in the mechatronics district of Piacenza on 29 June. The project is part of the Group’s development plan focused on Industry 4.0.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be followed by a conference entitled “Manufacturing companies in Italy in the 4.0 era: Scenarios and prospects for adaptive automatic Lines”, which will be attended by the mayor of Piacenza Paolo Dosi and the undersecretary for the economy Paola De Micheli and will involve the participation of industrial giants such as Siemens, Parmalat and FCA and Prof. Cesare Fantuzzi from the Department of Engineering of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.

The aim of the day’s events is to explore a highly concrete process that provides a clear strategy for improving companies’ competitiveness. Starting out from robots designed principally to perform commands and a production flow that is still governed by push logic (from production through to the warehouse), this strategy inverts the order of the process, taking requests from customers and partner companies as a starting point and offering solutions for production and logistics that can deliver real added value.

Gaiotto has chosen Piacenza for its 4.0 industrial revolution because, as general manager Emilio Cavazzini explains, “Piacenza is the homeland of successful mechatronics firms and is located at the centre of a region where virtually all the main cities boast an outstanding engineering industry and offer the excellence and skills needed to build the factories of the future”.

Gaiotto reported a turnover of 15 million euros in 2015, a third of which was generated by orders from outside the Sacmi Group.
