GranitiFiandre chooses GEA Technology by System
GranitiFiandre, a subsidiary of Iris, has chosen the great flexibility and high efficiency of GEA Technology by System for the production of large-format planar plates.
This is the first variable thickness press that will operate in Sassuolo's ceramic district. The supply consists of a new Lamina line with the GEA press without a mould that will start operating in July 2014.
The factory in Castellarano (RE) will start the production of surfaces up to 3.2 by 1.6 metres in size with only 60 kW/h of power consumption. Compared to a traditional press, the factory will make a 50% saving in energy.
Other benefits of this solution include the perfect flatness of the finished product, the absence of material tension, the option of creating plates with thicknesses ranging from 3 to 20 millimetres and the flexibility of creating texture surfaces with reliefs of up to 1.8 mm: these were also the key factors that led to the positive outcome of the meeting between the two giants and to the recent signing of the agreement directly by Romano Minozzi, President of Iris Group, and Franco Stefani, president of System Group.
With this recent confirmation, there are now nine Lamina facilities installed by System in the world. Companies who have already chosen to produce ceramic tiles with Lamina technology are the Panaria Group and Laminam in Italy, Kütahya and Kale in Turkey, Levantina and The Size in Spain, the SCG Group in Thailand and Platinum in Indonesia.
