KeraLab digital printing support service created
Officine Smac recently opened the first colour management service laboratory for ceramic digital printing at its Sassuolo headquarters.
The heart of the system is Xam, a numerical method that processes the printing device characteristics to obtain a model on the basis of which the image is reproduced. The result is a virtual print on which it is possible to make numerical measurements so as to evaluate in advance its resemblance to the original and to decide on the basis of established thresholds whether it is worth proceeding with actual reproduction using the specific printing device. This process starts out from an analysis of the material to be reproduced and ends with the production of electronic information on the various colour layers making up the image required by the InkJet printer to deposit the various inks on the ceramic tile in the correct quantities.
