A new master's course for the ceramic industry
Entitled “Business and Ceramic Technology”, the new 2nd level master’s course will train the highly specialised professionals needed in the ceramic industry.
The 2nd level master’s course entitled Business and Ceramic Technology aimed at graduates in engineering and scientific subjects, economics and law was presented on 30 May in Sassuolo. Promoted by Confindustria Ceramica and Federchimica Ceramicolor together with the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and the University of Bologna, the course is based on an analysis of the need for new skills in the Italian ceramic industry, a sector that has seen a significant expansion in its workforce (736 employees) over the last two years.
Open to a maximum of 30 postgraduates, the master’s course is an excellent opportunity for personal and professional growth and is particularly important for training the new professional figures required for the Industry 4.0 ceramic factories of the future. The highly specialist course will run for ten months from October 2019 to July 2020 and will be divided into classroom lessons and company internships. The syllabus will cover ceramic design, product and process technology, logistics, product standardisation and validation, environmental sustainability, marketing and project management. One of the key aspects of the master’s course is the high degree of involvement of companies, both in the teaching activities (through classroom lessons and company visits led by managers) and in the internships organised within operational settings.
The Director of the master’s course is Tiziano Manfredini (University of Modena and Reggio Emilia) and Co-Director Maria Chiara Bignozzi (University of Bologna).
Business associations have financed 12 scholarships for the most deserving students, while the companies themselves can provide forms of financial support during the internships.
Applications to take part in the master’s course must be submitted by 13 September.
