Panariagroup opts for Continua technology
Panariagroup, the ceramic tile manufacturing group led by Giuliano Mussini, has begun installing a brand-new Continua Sacmi line at its factory in Toano (province of Reggio Emilia, Italy). This will allow for efficient production of a wide range of high-quality articles including through-bodied and glazed porcelain tiles and highly innovative products.
This investment fits in with Panaria’s medium-term plans to produce new types of ceramic tiles with superior characteristics of soundproofing and resistance to those currently available on the market. Sacmi is also working with Panaria to develop projects for energy saving and efficiency and thereby further increase the competitiveness of its production activities.
On the Continua line the belt transports the layer of spray-dried product through the PCR compactor. This device consists of two belts that produce a continuous compacted strip with values of density and mechanical strength comparable to those of pre-compacted tiles with the added advantage of very high scope for customisation in terms of tile dimensions and design. The plant is also ready for automatic management and in-line reuse of processing waste and for installation of the latest decoration systems.
The Panariagroup line will be the first in the world to be integrated with the DDD 160, Sacmi’s dry digital decoration machine first presented at the last Tecnargilla. This system brings together the advantages of traditional decoration – in particular the practicality and high colour yield of conventional pigments – with the benefits of digital decoration.
With this installation Panaria reconfirms its confidence in Sacmi technology, already demonstrated in the past by the purchase of the first Twin Press lines, the first extremely wide entrance kiln and the first MMC modular mill.
