Porcelanosa, a record-breaking warehouse

05/03/04 - Porcelanosa has built a new finished product warehouse at its factory in Villareal.

The largest structure of its kind in the world, the warehouse occupies a surface area of about 40,000 square metres.
And with a height of 35 metres and a length of 260 metres, it has a capacity of 5 million square metres of tiles, equivalent to about 100,000 pallets.

The fully-automated warehouse cost 19 million euro to build and has the potential to handle 5,000 orders. It is connected to the factory via a 300-metre-long underground tunnel through which a conveyor belt can transfer about 60 pallets an hour.

With a turnover of 706.6 million euro, including sales through its own network of stores, the Porcelanosa Group reported an 11% increase in 2003 over the previous year, consolidating its position at a world level.

38.4% of turnover (271.3 million euro) was generated in Spain, while exports (435.3 million euro) accounted for 61.6% of sales.

The Group plans to invest 100 million euro in the short term to reinforce its presence at a commercial and logistic level in all countries where it operates.
In 2003 it reached a workforce of 4,000 people, 9% up on the previous year.
