Riedhammer supplies third kiln for Duravit plant in Egypt

A third Riedhammer shuttle kiln has been successfully tested at Duravit’s Egyptian facility in 10th of Ramadan City, joining the two sanitaryware firing and re-firing machines supplied in 2005.

Equipped with 8 modules with effective internal dimensions of 15x4.4x2 metres, the kiln has a cordierite/mullite refractory lining which avoids the need for maintenance on exposed fibres and the consequent risk of product defects. It is also equipped with a rapid cooling system which ensures that the entire first firing cycle is completed within 14 hours.

Duravit was impressed by the flexibility, reliability and usability of the plant and is already planning to install a fourth shuttle kiln at its Egyptian facility to serve one of its most important overseas markets and the largest in terms of volumes.

Duravit is a world leader in the high-end segment, posting revenues of 450.3 million euros in 2016, 80% of which was generated by exports, and an output of 3.5 million pieces of ceramic sanitaryware as well as bathroom furniture and accessories. The Hornberg-based group has 12 facilities (including 8 in the ceramic segment) in Germany, France, Egypt, Turkey, Tunisia and India and a total workforce of 6,000 employees.
