Sacmi makes a donation for the children of Kazakhstan
The beneficiaries will be orphans and disabled children in the region of Talgar, a small city in Kazakhstan.
The money donated by Sacmi will be used to finance part of the refurbishing work on the old building of a former Soviet summer school, which will be converted into a multifunctional centre for abandoned and disabled children. The building will house a rehabilitation and orthopaedic clinic and several classrooms.
The refurbishing work on the structure is part of the "Villaggio dell'Arca" project in Talgar set up several years ago by Padre Guido Trezzani and the non-governmental organisation Arca.
The main aims of "Villaggio dell'Arca" are to take in and provide education and physical rehabilitation for orphans and disabled children.
The new facility will also run training courses for medical personnel and for teachers already involved in working with the disabled or who are in any case interested in acquiring knowledge and practice in the field.
Both the school and the clinic will be open not just to the children from the village but to all disabled children in the area, particularly those from poor families.
