Selectum, the new roof tile developed by Bongioanni Stampi for La Escandella
The efficient design and prototyping system adopted by Bongioanni Stampi allowed for the rapid development of the new tile and a complete range of accessories.
La Escandella, a leading Spanish high-end roof tile producer, has commissioned Bongioanni to study and develop a new product with innovative technical characteristics capable of meeting the needs of the domestic and international markets.
The result is Selectum, a traditional-looking roof tile with a number of exclusive advantages: a 100-year warranty, flawless definition and minimum absorption during firing in H cassettes; ribs and drainage system optimised for placement on low slopes; and the Flexilock system allowing for installation with between 11 and 14 tiles per square metre. Suitable for any type of roof, the new tile is proving very popular amongst construction firms for both new build and renovation projects due to its high strength and excellent performance in harsh climates.
The tile was engineered in a multi-stage process. First, technical staff from Bongioanni Stampi and Bongioanni Macchine developed the project using 3D files, performing FEM calculations to optimise the thicknesses and final weight of the tile without weakening or altering its structure. Next, resin prototyping was performed to validate the aesthetics of the tile, the installation specifications and the various stages of the manufacturing process.
The efficient design and prototyping system adopted by Bongioanni Stampi allowed for the rapid development of the new tile and a complete range of accessories while meeting all the specifications provided by the Spanish company.
Selectum will join La Escandella’s new H-SELECTION premium range and will be sold in the 70 countries worldwide where the company operates ( exports account for 40% of its revenues).
