Surfaces Group acquires International Chips

The acquisition expands the Surfaces Group’s range of consumables for the ceramics, stone, glass and mechanical industries.​

With the recent acquisition of International Chips (Domodossola, Verbania), a leader in the production of consumables for the vibro-finishing of light and ferrous alloys, the Surfaces Group has undergone further expansion (Surfaces Technological Abrasives, ADI, NoCoat and RBM). Thanks to this acquisition, the Group based in Cenate Sotto (Bergamo) has extended its range of resin-bond diamond tools for the ceramics, stone, glass and mechanical industries and entered the finishing and super-finishing sectors for fashion accessories, small metal parts and aeronautic metal components. Along with diamond tools, the production facility in Domodossola also produces wet and dry abrasive plastic media and elastic wheels for super-finishing.

Founded in 1975, International Chips rapidly established itself in the vibro-finishing market and in 2006 invented the ECOS system, an exclusive technology for in-depth vibro-finishing of surfaces which can be used on any kind of material.

The International Chips range of diamond tools will be distributed through the Surfaces Group’s sales and technical support organisation. The abrasive plastic media and the ECOS vibro-finishing systems will still be marketed by the International Chips distribution network with the support of the Surfaces Group’s branches worldwide.
