SurfacesLab makes new investments
SurfacesLab, the innovative pilot plant of Surfaces Technological Abrasives (Formigine, Modena), is due to be expanded during the first few months of 2016 with the installation of a new latest-generation line.
The investment will allow the company to experiment with innovative solutions and new honing effects thanks to the combined action of abrasive materials and special machine calibrations.
Set up in 2014 with the aim of experimenting with new surface finishes, from classic gloss honing through to innovative satin effect machining, SurfacesLab has proved to be a valuable resource for ceramic companies and organisations involved in product research.
The plant, which consists of one honing line and one line for protective treatment, enables customers to create original surface finishes without engaging their production lines and to benefit from the advice and expertise of Surfaces Technological Abrasives.
It also allows honing plant set-ups to be tried out in advance, facilitating subsequent industrial production and reducing start-up costs and timeframes.
Another benefit is the possibility of obtaining small quantities of finished products for trade fair participation, photo shoots or showroom setups.
The SurfacesLab service is also open to non-Italian ceramic companies in countries where Surfaces sales branches are located.
