Tile of Spain at Cevisama 2012
The countdown has begun to the 30th Cevisama, the International Ceramic, Natural Stone and Bathroom show to be held in Valencia, Spain from 7 to 10 February 2012. With more than 700 exhibitors, including numerous foreign companies, hosted in a floor space of more than 120,000 sq.m, the event confirms its international appeal and along with tiles and sanitaryware will also be showcasing accessories, raw materials, glazes, frits and colours. The Spanish ceramic industry will be out in force, represented as usual under the umbrella of Tile of Spain. The Spanish tile manufacturers' association Ascer together with the Spanish institute for foreign trade Icex has put together a packed programme of events promoting the national ceramic industry. Along with the tenth edition of the Tile of Spain Award to be presented on Wednesday 8 February following the press conference, the Trans/Hitos Architecture and Interior Design exhibition will be back for the eighth consecutive year. This year entitled "Spaces", it will consist of a 600 sq.m exhibit showcasing prototypes of architectural projects combined with ceramics and their uses in domestic and urban design.
Internationally renowned architects and interior designers will be taking part in the Architecture and Design Forum, three days of debates on experiences and projects in the use of ceramic tiles. On Wednesday 8 February, the day devoted to Interiorism, designer Jordi Ribaudí will give a conference on a number of ceramic projects. Thursday 9 February will be dedicated to architects. The practice COR studio, winners of the Tile of Spain Award for the project House of Music in Algueña, will explain why they chose ceramic as a differentiating factor. The series of conferences will be concluded on Friday 10 February with a talk by French avant-garde designer Matali Crasset who will discuss her experience and recent works with the forum participants.
