Ugrakeram doubles capacity with SACMI-Riedhammer
The Russian company Ugrakeram, a leading sanitaryware manufacturer belonging to the Roca Group, has started up a new shuttle kiln produced by Riedhammer (Sacmi Group).
The investment will double the existing shuttle kiln capacity for both firing and re-firing glazed pieces.
The new kiln consists of 5 cars and has a total effective volume of 50 m3. The manufacturer can load pieces on two or three levels depending on the specific model. The cordierite/mullite refractory plate roof lining avoids the need for maintenance of exposed fibre and prevents fibre-related product defects.
Out-of-kiln handling is designed to ensure rapid loading/unloading and consequently higher productivity. This doubling of re-fire capacity at the Ugrakeram facility will allow the Roca Group to respond even more effectively to the growing demand for high-quality sanitaryware in the Russian market while evaluating commercial expansion in new target markets.
