Vandersanden celebrates 100 years

A milestone that combines tradition, research, and commitment to a more sustainable future in brick production.

Belgian family-run company Vandersanden is celebrating its centenary with a series of initiatives marking a hundred years of production, innovation and environmental responsibility. Founded in 1925 by Jaak Vandersanden, the firm has consistently combined tradition with innovation, backed by its investments in research into materials and processes.

Under the motto “From Fire to Vision”, Vandersanden traces its journey from the earliest kilns through to a forward-looking vision in which clay brick is considered not just as a construction material but as a tool for sustainable design. Digital technologies, energy efficiency, raw material recovery and emissions reduction are the pillars of a strategy that looks to the future without abandoning its roots.

The company is planning a series of initiatives for its centenary year including institutional events, exhibitions, stakeholder campaigns and a retrospective of the milestones that took Vandersanden from a small artisan brickmaker to one of Europe’s leading brick manufacturers. One of its main goals is to achieve carbon neutrality in the brick sector by 2050, supported by ongoing investment in digital processes, energy efficiency and low-impact materials.
