Vicente Nomdedeu Lluesma appointed chairman of Ascer

Vicente Nomdedeu Lluesma has been named the new chairman of Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers’ Association Ascer.

He was appointed on 11 January by the association’s board, which met a few days after the unexpected death of Isidro Zarzoso on 3 January at the age of 76. Zarzoso, who had led Ascer since 2013, was remembered by his colleagues and his successor for his strong sense of responsibility and the efficiency with which he oversaw the association’s policy during a difficult period for the ceramic industry. One of his biggest achievements was the EU decision to renew antidumping duties on imports of ceramic tiles from China.

Born in 1959, Nomdedeu runs the family-owned ceramic company Azteca (Castellón) and was already vice chairman of the board of Ascer. Commenting after his appointment, Nomdedeu said that during his term in office he intends to continue the policies undertaken by his predecessor, focusing in particular on improving representation of the industry within all Spanish and international political institutions and on the fight against unfair competition.
