TEKINN XDS to be unveiled at Tecna 2024

Tekinn, a leading company in the development of x-ray equipment for quality control of ceramic pieces, is presenting its new TEKINN XDS solution at Tecna 2024.

As part of its ongoing commitment to innovation in the ceramic industry, TEKINN develops advanced equipment for quality control of ceramic tiles.

Specifically, this involves the combined use of X-ray absorption technology and advanced laser telemetry for high-speed measurement of density, thickness and mass distribution in both unfired and fired tiles. The TEKINN inspection system, an industry-tested solution that has been in operation for over 10 years, allows for cost savings and increased production control right from the start of the process.

The bulk density of pressed tiles is one of the most important variables to be monitored in the ceramic tile production process as it is critical for the quality of the fired product. For this reason, it must be measured, treated and controlled correctly. The new TEKINN XDS model is a new generation of equipment for the non-destructive inspection of ceramic pieces for industrial production plants, capable of determining the density distribution of large items, obtaining millions of measuring points in just a few minutes. The system uses X-ray absorption technology combined with sophisticated laser telemetry to determine the density, thickness and mass distribution of ceramic tiles.

The inspection data are analysed using proprietary control software and the results displayed on the user’s screen, with various different operational and display possibilities. The tests are stored in an orderly manner in an easily configurable hierarchy of folders with a parameter-based search system.

The tests allow the density, thickness and load differences within a tile to be displayed using colour mapping. This enables the user to set high and low control limits for each variable, allowing for rapid detection of areas close to or outside these limits (orange/red and blue/purple, respectively).

This innovative technology enables technicians to easily predict future product defects as early as the forming stage and correct the process in time to avoid significant financial losses caused by quality issues and rejects.

TEKINN, the new company founded by the Spanish ITC (Institute for Ceramic Technology) and REDIT Ventures, will exhibit at Tecna 2024 (Rimini, 24-27 September 2024) in Hall D3, Booth no. 102.
