Akij Bangladesh invests in Sacmi pressure casting
The Bangladeshi company is already a longstanding Sacmi customer in the tile sector and with this investment aims to achieve ambitious productivity and quality targets in sanitaryware production
To achieve new quality standards for its sanitaryware range and increase productivity to 1.2 million pieces per year, Akij Bangladesh has stepped up its investments in Sacmi technology with the purchase of a first batch of new equipment for its casting department, two BMP multi-mould pressure casting machines. The machines are equipped with a slip reheating and feeding tank (RBS) and resin moulds, which are much more efficient and durable than traditional plaster moulds and serve to improve the quality of the finished product.
The scope of supply also includes two mould models for cisterns complete with lids, as well as two models for pedestals. A total of 13 double-cavity moulds are supplied for pedestal production on the first casting line along with 14 moulds (two or three cavity) for the production of lids and cisterns on the second BMP line. The cycle lasts approximately one hour with reduced manual operations, which in this configuration are limited to piece demoulding.
The Bangladeshi ceramic producer is already a longstanding customer of Sacmi’s tile division and with this investment will take an important step towards improving its competitiveness in European and Middle Eastern markets. Following the installation and start-up of these first two lines, the company plans to adopt another two Sacmi BMP systems to further improve product quality and raise the plant’s levels of performance and automation.
