Award ceremony for 22nd Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition held at Coverings
The Ceramics of Italy International Press Conference held on April 15th at Coverings hosted the presentation of awards for the 22nd Tile Competition, a competition in which Confindustria Ceramica and the Italian Trade Agency ITA honour three American architects or interior designers who have helped to promote the image of Italian tiles through creative use of these products.
The Commercial Category award went to RSP ARCHITECTS (Minneapolis, MI) for the Target Northern Campus project (Brooklyn Park, MN) carried out using tiles from Caesar, Casamood and Provenza distributed by Tile By Design + RBC Tile and Stone. An honourable mention went to Alexander Gorlin Architects (New York, NY) for the Bell Works project (Holmdel, NJ) which used tiles from Imola Ceramica and Mirage, distributed by New Jersey Tile and Stone.
The winner of the Institutional Category was Shinberg Levinas Architects (Washington, DC) for the Carlos Rosario International Culinary School project (Washington, DC) which used tiles from Lea Ceramiche, distributed by Atlantic Link. An honourable mention went to Gertler & Wente Architects, LLP (New York, NY) for ChristChurch Presbyterian (Atlanta, GA) which used tiles produced by Marazzi and distributed by Marazzi NY.
The Residential Category was won by DKOR Interiors (Miami, FL) for a project entitled A Contemporary Moody Home (Aventura, FL) which used ceramic tiles manufactured and distributed by Atlas Concorde. Two honourable mentions went to Natalie Kraeim Interiors(Brooklyn, NY) for the project Brooklyn Kitchen (Brooklyn, NY) using tile collections produced by Rex and distributed by Florim Solution, and to Tectonic Design (Monroe, MI) for the Hanes Residence project (Andersonville, TN) using tiles manufactured by Cotto d'Este and distributed by Ciot.
