Capaccioli wins contract from Forterra for its Accrington plant
Capaccioli has won a major order to supply the renowned UK brick producer with a fully automated plant.
Capaccioli has been selected by Forterra as its technology partner for the supply of a complete turnkey plant for the production of extruded brick slips.
The new, modern line will be installed at the Accrington factory, where it will operate alongside the existing brick production line.
The fully automated plant will involve an investment of £12 million and will guarantee an output of 48 million brick slips/year to meet the growing domestic demand. Product innovation is one of the cornerstones of the UK brick producer’s development strategy, and new technologies are a necessary step to make rapid progress along this path.
In keeping with its sustainability plans, Forterra will obtain clear energy savings from the new plant, which is fuelled mainly by waste heat. In addition, brick slips reduce the waste typically associated with the process of cutting standard bricks, creating a versatile, attractive and more sustainable solution.
