Cattin Porcellane D’Arte chooses Sacmi-Sama PHO 451 press
The machine will be used to produce high-end plates with elegant relief decoration.
Cattin Porcellane D’Arte, a company based in Borso del Grappa (province of Treviso) with a forty year history of excellence in the production of high-end porcelain tableware and accessories, has once again chosen Sacmi-Sama technology.
After starting up the first Sama pressure casting machine in 2020, the company has now installed a PHO 451 “Green” isostatic press, demonstrating the feasibility of applying an industrial solution to the production of artistic porcelain.
The aim of the investment was to develop a collection of round plates with a modern and functional design (low thickness, large rim, open inclination and slim foot) while applying a relief decoration to every single plate.
After pressing, the items exit the PHO press via a specially adapted conveyor and are transferred ergonomically to the operator, who performs the manual finishing and fettling operations using the centring device. The decoration is replicated using the araldite mould supplied by Sama and applied manually, thereby obtaining the required three-dimensional effect as well as consistently perfect quality.
The press was supplied in the “green” configuration with up to 30% lower consumption compared to conventional technology. The installation and testing stages were accompanied by a training programme to enable Cattin’s technical team to optimise the machine’s performance right from the outset.
