Cosmec: latest-generation automation for Wienerberger Hungary

Cosmec is about to install a new automatic U-cassette loading/unloading line at one of the Austrian company’s Hungarian facilities. The new equipment will be used for sorting, loading and unloading packs of plain tiles and related accessories and transporting them to the palletisation line.
The plant is equipped with 7 Fanuc 6-axis robots and will be able to produce roof tiles with a higher production capacity and considerable personnel savings. It will also significantly improve the quality of the products, which are no longer handled manually but manipulated by modern mechanical grippers designed to avoid even the slightest damage.
Cosmec has now abandoned the pneumatic opening, closing and spacing system and replaced it with a more technologically advanced solution consisting of servomotors driven and controlled by brushless drives. This technology not only guarantees improved performance and higher precision but also drastically reduces maintenance and consequently downtime, which is one of the biggest production costs after energy and labour.
The task of machinery manufacturers is to design systems that are increasingly simple and easy to manage.
