Dumoulin Bricks chooses Verdés
Supplied new clay preparation equipment with the aim of improving the production process and raising capacity.
Dumoulin Bricks (Roeselare, West Flanders), one of the largest clay brick producers in Belgium, has commissioned Verdés to supply new clay preparation equipment with the aim of improving the production process and raising capacity.
Following in-depth analysis, the Spanish company proposed a model A-750-F filter mixer and a Magna 675 extruder, highly flexible solutions that comfortably surpass the performance of existing machines.
The model A-750-F consists of an 1800 mm open trough mixer which incorporates an 875 mm compression zone.
The clay is compacted against a grid which captures impurities and ensures highly efficient homogenization.
The Magna extruder, modernized in 2013 with a new design and latest-generation technologies, has a production capacity of up to 85 ton/h (much higher than that of the previous production process) and an auger diameter of 675 mm in the vacuum chamber and 650 mm in the front section.
This configuration can operate with a range of pressures of up to 25 bar and provides the flexibility needed to produce different clay block formats.
The higher applied pressure also allows for operation with a smaller quantity of water and reduces the energy consumption of the dryer and kiln.
After several months of operation, the Verdés solutions are still functioning well below their maximum capacities, allowing plenty of scope for future growth in production.
