Riwal invests in green cutting and squaring technology
To complete the technology investment programme for the Saime factory in Maranello (Modena), Nuova Ri.Wal Ceramiche (Casalgrande Padana Group) has adopted a new dry squaring and cutting line for porcelain tiles designed and built by Tecnema Technology.
This reflects the company's philosophy of adopting innovative technologies capable of increasing product quality while maintaining a strong focus on the environmental sustainability of production processes.
The completely dry squaring line supplied by Tecnema is based on the SCT (Small Chip Thickness) technique, which does not generate heat and therefore attains superior processing standards compared to the traditional water-based process.
This technology, which brings numerous production, economic and environmental benefits, was developed from an initial prototype introduced in 2008. It is protected by patents covering aspects such as elimination of sludge disposal, recycling of production dust, energy saving, a healthier workplace (saline mist is not formed), and a longer lifetime and lower maintenance costs of tools and machinery.
