Romani group wins CONAI award for packaging eco-design

The Italian National Packaging Consortium CONAI has selected the Romani Group’s project as one of the winners of the 5th “Prevention award – promoting the sustainability of packaging”.

Organised with the backing of the Italian Ministry of the Environment, the CONAI award was presented to packaging producers and users who have reviewed the eco-sustainability of their packaging in the light of the most innovative solutions placed on the market in the two-year period 2016-2017.

In the Romani Group’s project, two sorting lines in the factory in Rubiera were equipped with new Ekoroll packaging machines from Nuova Sima which are capable of reducing the weight of the cardboard primary packaging by up to 63% (the percentage increases according to the surface area of the individual tile).

The sustainability of the packaging is also increased by the use of a paper roll consisting of 55% recycled material. This important award follows the one already received in 2016 and confirms the company’s strong environmental commitment.
