Tecnargilla Preview - The news by Siti - B&T Group
Through synergy with Siti, a new model of roller kiln with an innovative, distinctive design has been developed based on the two companies’ many years of experience in the ceramic machinery sector. The new machine meets growing market demand in terms of performance (especially for large production capacities), automation, efficiency, energy saving and management costs, accessibility and ease of maintenance, as well as aesthetics.
The kiln consequently has large entrances, up to 3.2 metres in width, and may be up to 200 metres or more in length.
This has allowed the internal temperature distribution to be optimised through the use of new types of burners and flame ports for the firing zone, while other improvements have been made to the cooling zones. For this reason, a whole new series of devices and automatic management systems have been added to continuously control the various parameters that affect flatness, cracking and residual tensions in the pieces, especially when processing large and thick tiles.
The combustion air pipes run outside the modules to facilitate access and modification or maintenance work and improve thermal insulation.
To make it easier to clean the firing channel, the openings on the sides of the kiln have been enlarged. This includes both the hatches under the rollers and the inspection points at the top.
Other optimisation work involves the roller drive system.
To achieve energy saving, various solutions have been applied on different parts of the new roller kiln. This includes choosing insulation materials of superior quality combined with environment friendly physical/chemical properties and introducing various energy recovery systems that exploit the considerable volumes of hot air recovered from the cooling zones.
Another machine that will be showcased at Tecnargilla is the EVO 5608 series hydraulic press with free clearance of 2450, a new and innovative model based on the consolidated EVO design. Its high performance is assured by a welded monolithic structure, a three-part cylinder, hydraulic components on-board the machine and a power unit with inertial flywheel. The system of 3 sheets with different thicknesses is totally new. One of the main advantages of the machine is the extremely regular support given to the press bed which guarantees an improvement in the dimensional regularity of the tiles leaving the kiln. The most rigid machine ever produced by Siti - B&T Group, it delivers the maximum mould support regularity. Loading defects can be highlighted and corrected by means of an effective parallelism control system. The hydraulic blocks are positioned in the rear of the machine, between the head and the cylinder, to optimise access for maintenance purposes. The control unit has a powerful motor located in a raised position, which by means of a V-belt system drives the flywheel shaft and the two opposing pumps with fixed flow rates. Demoulding is performed by the tested Syncro system, which has been improved and upgraded in terms of some of its details. The new EVO 5608 press is equipped with a cutting-edge electronic control panel that automatically controls all the phases of the pressing cycle.
