Canada, increase in Italian tile imports20 November 2002 - In Canada, imports of building products from Italy rose by about 16% during the first eight months of this year, particularly for tiles, taps and valves.
During this period Italian imports amounted to a value of about 114 million dollars. The figures were released by the Toronto branch of the ICE (Italian Trade Commission), revealing the good market performance including record prices and turnover for the country's building sector. The total number of building permits granted in Canada during the first 8 months of 2002 increased by 16.2% (30.6 million dollars) over the same period in 2001.
