Spanish tile, frit and glaze exports on the increase5 December 2002 - Spanish tile exports continue their growth trend. According to ICEX, in the period January-August 2002 the value of foreign market sales reached 1,409 million euro, 4.54% up on the same period the previous year. The value of imports remains fairly low at 37 million euro.

The Spanish frit and glaze industry has likewise shown an excellent export performance. During the first 8 months of 2002 exports increased by 7.99% over the same period the previous year to a value of 308 million euro. Italy is the largest export market (40 million euro), followed by Indonesia (25 million euro) and Egypt (24 million euro).
Over the 8 month period analysed, imports of ceramic frits and glazed totalled a value of 40 million euro.
