Business acquisitions between Ferro and Heraeus
Heraeus and Ferro Corporation signed, on April, an agreement to
acquire certain business lines concerning decoration materials for ceramic
and glass products from each other.
The Heraeus precious metals and technology group has agreed to acquire
the precious metal based decoration business from Ferro probably effective
May 1st, 2010. This incorporates the precious metal products for the
decoration of glass, porcelain and tiles. Heraeus has been in this business
since 1896, and this acquisition will enhance its market position in precious
metal products for the decoration industry.
Ferro, a producer of technology-based materials, will acquire the onglaze
and inglaze color business from Heraeus. This includes both lead-free and
lead containing colors for decorating glass, ceramics, porcelain and tiles.
Ferro will also acquire the glazes, pigments and auxiliary business from
Heraeus to further establish the company's market position in the ceramic
colors industry.
With these acquisitions, both companies are focusing on their core competences and areas of expertise.
