Coverings 2011 closed in Las Vegas
Coverings, the most important American exhibition of ceramic tile and natural stone, has been closed on Monday 17 March. Held for the first time in the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas, the show hosted around 1,000 exhibitors from more than 50 countries and will run until 17 March.
Italian ceramic tiles had centre stage once again this year with a dedicated pavilion hosting more than 70 brands as well as the Ceramic Tiles of Italy stand sponsored by Confindustria Ceramica, the Italian Trade Commission ICE and the Italian Ministry for Economic Development.
Scheduled events included the Ceramic Tiles of Italy press conference on Tuesday 15 March at 4.00 p.m., where representatives of the Association presented the winners of the 2011 Design Competition, while the winner of the Confindustria Ceramica North American Distributor Award has been announced at the Dal Toro Ristorante in the Palazzo Hotel. On Wednesday 16 March at 8.00 a.m., the seminar entitled The future of the U. S. Economy and of the Ceramic Tile Market” given by Confindustria Ceramica’s American consultant Donato Grosser.
Ceramic Tiles of Italy also sponsored the second edition of The Installation Design Showcase which officially launched on Wednesday afternoon and where Ali Azhara, Chicago-based designer and star of the HGTV network, used the collections of a number of Italian companies (Casamood-Casa Dolce Casa, Ceramiche Provenza, Marazzi, Settecento Mosaici and Ceramiche d’arte, Sicis and Mapei) to create a 3 x 6 metre ornamental panel. The panel has been built by Artcraft, an American tile layer belonging to NTCA (National Tile Contractors Association), using Mapei adhesives.
Tile Edizioni was present at the show with the latest issues of Ceramic World Review and Tile International.
