Emilceramica wins recognition at China Awards 2008

As one of the Italian companies to have achieved an outstanding performance in high export growth districts and sectors in China, Emilceramica has won the “creators of value” category in the China Awards 2008, the awards that the Fondazione Italia Cina chaired by Cesare Romiti assign to the Italian companies that have successfully exploited the opportunities of the Chinese market and Chinese companies that have excelled in Italy.

“The objective of the China Awards is to promote an awareness of the importance of internationalisation for Italian companies and to highlight the benefits that derive from flows of capital, people, ideas, goods and services between Italy and China,” explained Romiti. “The China Awards are an excellent opportunity for taking stock, for sharing winning strategies and for encouraging a positive reaction to the challenge posed by China, particularly in the current time of market crisis.”

Other companies to have received the award include: Max Mara, Morellato & Sector, Stonefly, Marcegaglia, Assicurazioni Generali, Costa Crociere and Trussardi.

The event, held on 27 November in the Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan and organised by the Fondazione Italia China and Milano Finanza with the backing of the Italian Ministry for Economic Development and CONI, was held during a charity dinner, the proceeds of which will be donated to the LifeLine Express project, a hospital train travelling through the most remote regions of China for the purpose of treating eye and sight conditions.

Emilceramica operates in China with various brand and franchising stores.
Its entrance into the Chinese market stems from a joint venture with Major International, a leading importer and distributor of high-end products, with the aim of opening points of sale in China’s largest cities. Emilceramica brings to the joint venture the best of its high-segment Italian products, merchandising, layout and overall image of stores; Major International contributes its commercial expertise and knowledge of one of the markets with greatest potential for tile consumption.
