The first Fercam Company Train sets off

Fercam, an Alto Adige-based company specialising in transport and logistics, launched a new service for the ceramic tile industry on 3 December last year. Called Fercam Company Train, the service will provide a daily rail link between the Sassuolo ceramic district and Germany via the Brenner pass, Cologne-Eifeltor and Verona Porta Nuova. The service combines the ease of distribution of road transport with the benefits of rail transport over very long distances. TX Logistik, a German company belonging to the Trenitalia group, will provide the rail service and the wagons, while the Fercam fleet of trucks will pick up and consolidate the tile loads in the Sassuolo area for transport to Germany in mobile crates or company containers. For the return journey the crates and containers will be filled with clay for transport from the Frankfurt area to tile manufacturers based in Sassuolo.

Fercam currently has 36 branches in Italy, 17 in Europe and a subsidiary in Tangiers, Morocco. It also has an efficient and closely-knit network of correspondents and partners worldwide.
