Franco Stefani wins Ceramics in Europe Award 2022
During the congress held in Krakow from 10 to 14 July, ECerS presented Franco Stefani with the Gian Nicola Babini Award in recognition of his work in developing Lamina technology.
The Ceramics in Europe 2022 congress held in Krakow, Poland on 10-14 July simultaneously hosted the XVII ECerS Conference, ICC9 and Electroceramics XVIII and also featured the presentation of the ECerS awards.
One of these was the Gian Nicola Babini (Industrial) Award, which was presented to Franco Stefani, Chairman of System Ceramics (Coesia Group) in recognition of his pioneering role in developing Lamina technology patented by System Ceramics.
The award recognises the essential contribution that this unique industrial process and innovative technology has made to the European ceramic industry by developing an entirely new product with enormous technical and aesthetic potential and opening up new areas of application and market segments.
With the Lamina industrial process, Franco Stefani and System Ceramics have transformed the traditional floor and wall tile concept into a 1800x4800 mm surface with a thickness from 3 to 30 mm suitable for use as a furnishing element.
This is the result of a revolutionary technology based on a powerful mouldless press (from the original Lamgea through to today’s Superfast model), which combines innovation, technology and architecture to give free rein to creativity and open up new markets for the ceramic industry.
