Fusion technology from Manfredini & Schianchi adopted in Asia and South America
First unveiled at Tecnargilla 2016, FGT - Fusion Granulation Technology from Manfredini & Schianchi will soon be adopted by a number of tile manufacturers in China, India, Thailand, Brazil, Argentina and Spain.
The patent pending Fusion technology was developed through research conducted as part of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 project. It stems from the MS Drytech Porcelain dry grinding process for the production of porcelain bodies and results in improved finished product quality, especially in the case of large sizes. In particular, the specific characteristics of homogenisation, flow and density of the final granulate (on a par with those of spray-dried powders) ensure a high degree of stability in the pressing, drying and firing stages.
Fusion technology stands out for its very low environmental footprint including 90% lower water consumption. When used in conjunction with energy recovery technologies, it is able to entirely eliminate CO2 emissions, allowing for the production of truly eco-sustainable ceramic materials.
