Granitifiandre reports positive start to year

16/05/05 - Granitifiandre has closed the first quarter of 2005 with a turnover of 36.2 million euro, in line with the 36.4 million euro of the same period in 2004 (at constant exchange rates the result is unchanged).
Sales of brand products rose by 2.3% (3.1% at constant exchange rates), largely due to the good results achieved in the domestic market, which showed 5.3% growth.

Profitability remains high with a gross operating result (EBITDA) of 6.1 million euro in the quarter (6.5 million euro in 2004), corresponding to 16.8% of turnover, and pre-tax profits of 3.3 million euro (3.8 million euro in 2004).

The German subsidiary Porcelaingres has also reported good results, including a first-quarter turnover of more than 3 million euro (equivalent to about 300,000 sq.m) followed by significant growth in April to reach 2 million euro (200,000 sq.m).

In the United States, the facility at Crossville, Tennessee has completed the start-up stage and functionality tests and production is now underway. The first American products, officially presented during Coverings 2005, will be marketed under the StonePeak brand name.
