Laminam wins "Premio all'Innovazione Amica dell'Ambiente" award
Laminam has won the Eco-Building and Materials section of the “Premio all’innovazione Amica dell’ambiente” (Environment-Friendly Innovation Award). The award was presented in Milan on 10 December at a conference held during the trade fair Artigiano in Fiera 2009 - Salone Ecoabitare.
Promoted by Legambiente and Regione Lombardia, the award is presented annually to public or private companies in recognition of their efforts to adopt eco-sustainable production criteria for energy saving and for responsible use of resources. To manufacture its large, thin ceramic sheets, Laminam uses less than half the quantity of raw materials and energy required for conventional porcelain tiles due to the innovative shaping and firing methods adopted.
Further environmental benefits of the innovative production process include lower transport costs, better energy quality and very low atmospheric emissions of dust and CO2.
In 2009 the Laminam parent company System Group also unveiled a new photovoltaic project for a ceramic material that will combine surface covering functions with the production of energy.
