Maurizio Cavagnari wins the 18th International Aldo Villa Prize
The award established by the Italian Ceramic Society was presented during Tecna 2022 in Rimini.
Maurizio Cavagnari, Chairman of Sassuolo-based company Stylgraph, is the winner of the 18th International “Aldo Villa” Prize, an award that has been presented by the Italian Ceramic Society since 1988 to a figure who has made an important contribution to the development of the ceramic industry.
The award was presented on 28 September during Tecna in Rimini in the presence of the jury chaired by the Chairman of the Italian Ceramic Society Michele Dondi and the Chairmen of Sacmi, Acimac, Ceramicolor and the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza.
According to the jury statement, the award was assigned to Maurizio Cavagnari
“in recognition of his business skills and extraordinary dedication to ceramic surface design, a sector that makes a vital contribution to the global success of Italian ceramics through its creativity and artistic expression”.
In his acceptance speech, Maurizio Cavagnari noted that this is
“the first time that an award has been given to someone working in the field of ceramic decoration and design, a low-profile sector that is vital for the aesthetics of ceramic products. This award is of course a source of great personal satisfaction for my more than 40 years of activity, but above all it represents an important recognition of the value of companies like mine, whose artistic creativity, craftsmanship and dedication help to maintain the outstanding international reputation of Italian-made products.”
