Nuova Era and Coop. Imola strengthen their partnership
Cooperativa Ceramica Imola and System Group member company Nuova Era have recently strengthened their technological partnership. The Imola-based ceramic producer has renovated and expanded its storage and handling department, from the press through to sorting (with the exception of dryers and kilns), using machinery built by Nuova Era. The supply package consists of two Robobox machines with a capacity of up to 250 sq.m for unfired products. The roller conveyor system positioned on an elevator with lateral and vertical movement allows box change downtimes to be eliminated. The unique feature of the system is the double elevator which allows productivity to be increased by 30%.
The order will be followed up by a glazing line, a kiln infeed and outfeed system and a total of fifteen Robofloor machines that will perform handling and storage of the material before and after firing using simple but large-capacity platforms (up to a 400 sq.m) moved by shuttles. In the Robofloor system the layers of tiles are taken from the roller conveyor (for loading) and then from the platform (for unloading) by means of a suction surface with two electric fans.
The Nuova Era supply package will consolidate production of the Imola-based group’s four brands (Imola Ceramica, LaFaenza Ceramica, Leonardo Ceramica and Clip Tile) and will enable Coop Imola to reach a production capacity of around 31 million sq.m. The new plants will produce porcelain tile (sizes from 300x300 mm to 1200x1500 mm) and will be put into production in the second half of 2011 in the factory in Borgo Tossignano (BO).
