Red body tableware production, the new frontier of isostatic pressing from Sama
Ceramiche Bucciarelli (based in Cava De' Tirreni, near Salerno, Italy) has chosen Sacmi Group member company Sama to implement isostatic pressing technology for the production of the famous Vietri plates, exported all over the world.
This innovative technology from Sama, a German company specialising in ceramic tableware production technology, is specifically designed for pressing red body articles with low firing shrinkage.
This first isostatic pressing of red body articles was made possible thanks to effective teamwork between Ceramiche Bucciarelli and the Sama research centre.
The investment meets the ceramic manufacturer's need to carry forward its long-standing tradition of hand-decorated plates while simultaneously innovating and adapting the technology to new requirements such as lower energy consumption, care for the environment, optimisation of the production process and higher quality standards, including the high strength of the red body produced by isostatic pressing.
Successfully installed and started up at the factory in Cava De' Tirreni last December, the new PP-1S-38 press produces classics such as 26 cm plates, 24 cm dishes and 20 cm fruit bowls.
