Revestir returns
Revestir, the Brazilian ceramic tile and natural stone exhibition set up four years ago by Anfacer (Brazilian tile manufacturers’ association) and Abiemg (Brazilian marble and granite industry association) will be back again this year from 14 to 17 March in its customary venue in the Transamérica Expo Center in São Paulo.
The number of exhibitors has increased to about 150, compared to 130 in 2005, including a number of foreign companies. There will also be a pavilion of Italian machinery suppliers called Tecnargilla Brasil, organised by Acimac and the Italian Trade Commission ICE and comprising Ancora, Bmr, Forni Ficola, Manfredini & Schianchi, Newtech, Nuovafima, Sacmi, Sacs Tecnica e System.
The organisers are anticipating an attendance of more than 30,000 local professionals and more than 1,000 foreign visitors from 65 different countries.
They expect the show to generate over 120 million dollars of business for exhibitor companies.
Revestir is becoming an increasingly important event for the tile and marble industries, not only for companies operating in the large Brazilian market but also for buyers throughout the American continent.
Consequently, almost all the Brazilian companies will be present, including some that will also be taking part in Coverings three weeks later.
Among the big companies, the only notable absence is that of Eliane, which takes part every two years.
As well as hosting the 4th International Forum of Architecture and Construction, which will feature addresses by leading professionals in the construction sector, this year's Revestir is being held in conjunction with the first Brazilian edition of Kitchen & Bath, the renowned American show organised by VNU Business Media.
Brazil also remains the second largest consumer country with 449 million sq.m.
Exports rose again in 2004 to reach 126 million sq.m, while the final figures for 2005 are expected to reveal a further increase.
The United States remains the largest foreign market for Brazilian producers (accounting for more than 40% of total exports) in spite of the difficulties experienced by Brazilian companies in 2005 due to the devaluation of the dollar against the Real (although they were penalised less than Spanish and Italian manufacturers).
The three largest Brazilian companies, Eliane, Cecrisa and Portobello, alone account for more than 30% of the country's exports.
