Sacmi acquires Euroelettra
The operation strengthens Sacmi’s growth strategy in the field of automation and Industry 4.0 services and ensures the business and employment continuity of the historic Reggio Emilia-based company
After increasing its stake in IPREL (design and development of digital services for industrial supervision and automation) to 100%, on 3 August Sacmi completed the acquisition of Euroelettra Sistemi (Marmirolo, Reggio Emilia). The deal will enable the Imola-based group to strengthen its position in this strategic sector while guaranteeing the business and employment continuity of a long-established company.
Founded in 1979, Euroelettra is a global provider of automation solutions, plant revamping and support with the development of monitoring and control systems for industrial plants.
The acquisition aims to “strengthen the Group’s growth through acquisitions in the Automation sector, with a particular focus on support for installation and management of plant flow monitoring and control systems, which are increasingly geared towards Industry 4.0 principles”, explains Paolo Mongardi, Chairman of Sacmi Imola.
Euroelettra has diversified its operations over the years, becoming a primary supplier of energy (thermal and hydroelectric power stations) and steel, while strengthening its presence in the ceramic industry. Design and automation of energy production and energy saving plants are now one of its core businesses, and the company boasts specific expertise in existing plant upgrading operations.
Subject to liquidation procedures since 2018, from June 2019 onwards Euroelettra Sistemi was supported by Sacmi via a business lease agreement until Sacmi won the competitive auction in July 2020.
