Tecnargilla 2004 opened yesterday in Rimini

02/10/04 - The 19th Tecnargilla, the world’s leading exhibition of technologies and supplies for the ceramic and brick industries, was opened yesterday, 1 October, in Rimini. The event is organised by Rimini Fiera in cooperation with Acimac.

The ribbon cutting ceremony and customary tour of the halls was attended by Paolo Mammola, Undersecretary of State for Infrastructures and Transport, Lorenzo Cagnoni, Chairman of Rimini Fiera S.p.A., Pierluigi Ponzoni, Chairman of ACIMAC, Amedeo Teti, Director General for Commercial Policy and Trade Arrangements of the Ministry of Production Activities, Alberto Ravaioli, Mayor of Rimini, and numerous local dignitaries.

The Chairman of Rimini Fiera, Lorenzo Cagnoni, commented on the international scope achieved by the show and pointed out that Tecnargilla is “a world leading event that demonstrates how trade shows are becoming increasingly innovative tools and as such are capable in turn of promoting innovation.”

“Tecnargilla is an excellent opportunity for the Italian ceramic tile industry to display the quality that makes it the world’s leading sector,” commented Acimac Chairman Pierluigi Ponzoni during the press conference. After a 3-year fall in turnover, the sector is at last beginning to look to the future again with optimism.”
In 2004 turnover is expected to match the 1,405 million euro of 2003, about 70% of which is generated by exports worldwide.

The ceramic glaze and colour producers were represented by Ceramicolor chairman Daniele Bandiera, who argued that “the substantial increase in attendance and success of Kromatech – the section devoted to creativity and colour in the ceramic industry – justifies the choices made by the organisers of Tecnargilla to create an exhibition capable of showcasing both ceramic technology and aesthetics. These are in fact the two key elements that contribute to the quality of the finished ceramic product.”
