Wienerberger acquires US firm Summitville Tiles

The acquisition will enable Wienerberger to expand its range of innovative and environmentally friendly building envelope solutions aimed specifically at the building renovation segment.

Wienerberger continues to expand its activities in North America and has taken another important step in its global value-creating growth strategy. The Belgian group has acquired Ohio-based brick and tile manufacturer Summitville Tiles, a long-established US company founded in 1912 that specialises in the production of brick slips for prefabricated façade systems for residential and commercial renovations. This is a particularly significant acquisition for Wienerberger as the group expects the market to grow by around 10% annually over the next five years. Summitville Tiles’ product portfolio reflects the shift towards ever greater sustainability in the construction industry.

“Solutions for prefabricated brick façade cladding will play an increasingly important role in making existing buildings climate-resistant, as the additional layer also provides lasting protection against the increasingly frequent extreme weather events,” says Heimo Scheuch, CEO of Wienerberger AG.

The acquisition will enable Wienerberger to expand its range of innovative and environmentally friendly building envelope solutions aimed specifically at the building renovation segment.
