Ceramic accessory pieces in Italy

28/10/03 -More than 200 companies, 4,500 employees and a turnover in excess of 500 million euro: these are the figures for the ceramic accessory pieces sector, a small but important segment of the ceramic industry.
These creative and highly specialised artisan companies are commissioned by the ceramic manufacturers to produce the mosaics, borders, inlays, briquettes, accents and trim pieces that make such a significant contribution to the success of Italian ceramic tiles worldwide.

Just like the larger sectors of ceramic tiles and machinery, this segment is also experiencing a period of stagnation. As pointed out by various speakers during the presentation of the 4th economic survey of the sector, the only way out of this situation is through concrete collaboration with the entire ceramic industry in order to improve the quality and competitiveness of Italian products.

The survey of the sector, which is located prevalently in the municipalities of Sassuolo, Maranello and Fiorano (61% of companies), covered 40 companies: 29 in the third fire decoration segment and 11 in cutting. A separate analysis was carried out for the decoration and tile cutting segment located in the mountain areas.
