The Italian ceramic tile industry increases international production
Italian-controlled ceramic tile producer companies operating outside Italy are performing well and now account for 17% of the Italian tile sector’s total turnover. In 2010 the 20 companies involved reported an increase in output to 115.7 million square metres (+6.43%) and sales of 124.5 million square metres (+5.88%), resulting in 12.09% growth in employment to 7,058 employees.
Turnover showed double-digit growth (+13.01%) to 989.8 million euro, consisting of 815.6 million euro from sales to the country of location of the facility (+17.57%) and 174.2 million euro from exports to nearby countries (-4.30%).
