The turnovers of Italian ceramic companies (2002)

13/10/03 - In 2002 the Marazzi Group has once again confirmed its position as the leading Italian tile manufacturer with a turnover of approximately 975 million euro and a production capacity in excess of 80 million square metres/year.

Second and third positions are occupied by the Iris Group and the Concorde Group respectively, while the Ceramiche Ricchetti Group, which in 2001 had the third highest turnover, has dropped to fifth place at 311 million euro.

These are the top companies in Tile Italia's rankings of Italian manufacturers, published exclusively on the Internet by Ceramic World Web.

In 2002 very few Italian companies reported substantial increases in turnover, whereas a relatively large number showed smaller increases. A growing number reported a fall in turnover.
Nonetheless, the sector's turnover rose by 0.68% last year to the record figure of 5,318.6 million euro. (For further information on the 2002 results, read: A difficult 2002 for Italian ceramic tiles Unlike in the past when the trend had assumed fairly substantial proportions, the rush to acquire existing companies was not evident this year.

Some of the most significant operations include the takeover of Pastorelli Ceramiche by the Faetano - Del Conca Group and the acquisition of the Portuguese firm Maronagres by the Panaria Group.
