USA: the home at the centre of attention22/04/2003 - According to the international research company Communications Research, Americans are increasingly focusing attention on their homes and have stepped up investments in aesthetic and structural improvements. According to the American Express Home Improvement Index, budgets earmarked for home renovation are increasing and an average of $3.796 is estimated for 2003. This figure has risen considerably compared to 2000 (+31%). More than 89% of home owners expect to increase the value of their property in this way.
Owners with family incomes of more than $50,000 tend to spend more than $4,200.
Again according to the survey, Americans see these improvements as top priority, more important than entertainment, travel, eating out and tourism.
