Australian company Brickworks grows in the United States
Brickworks Building Products has completed its third acquisition in the United States in 15 months, creating a North American hub with 12 factories producing 400 million bricks per year.
Brickworks Building Products, Australia’s leading building material manufacturer, is continuing its expansion in the United States with last November’s acquisition of Redland Brick, a US brand esteemed internationally for its clay products including the highly renowned Cushwa handmade ad moulded bricks.
The US $47 million (AU $70 million) deal is the third acquisition in the United States following those of Sioux City Brick and Glen-Gery, which were completed in August and November 2018, respectively. Brickworks has acquired a company with four manufacturing sites (two in Maryland and one each in Pennsylvania and Virginia) operating five production lines with a total annual capacity of around 250 million bricks.
The transaction will lead to the creation of a North American hub with over 1,000 employees, 12 production sites, a production volume of 400 million bricks per year and annual revenues of $195 million.
