BMR acquires Italvision
The Scandiano-based company has completed the acquisition of a 52% stake in the industrial vision technology specialist.
BMR of Scandiano (Reggio Emilia), a fully-owned Sacmi Group company since 2023, has acquired a 52% stake in Italvision (also based in Scandiano), thereby incorporating the company’s unique expertise. For more than 20 years, Italvision has been an industry leader in the design of systems for quality and process control using machine vision technology. Initially developed for production and quality control in the ceramic sector, Italvision’s technology is now being transferred to other sectors, notably the food industry, propelled by continuous research and development.
The acquisition will enhance both brands’ offerings by providing the ceramic market with more advanced integrated surface finishing solutions incorporating state-of-the-art machine vision systems. This strategic move aligns with the latest trends in servitization and the increasing application of artificial intelligence in the world of manufacturing. BMR and Italvision have already been collaborating for years on specific projects for a number of ceramic companies around the world.
Following the 100% acquisition of BMR in 2023, this latest operation marks another significant step in SACMI’s strategy of expanding its range of offerings for the tile sector.
“Italvision is an outstanding company that has been at the forefront of the machine vision sector for many years,” says Paolo Mongardi, chairman of SACMI and BMR. “This acquisition enables us to enhance our digital expertise and we are now looking forward to building stronger collaborations and new synergies among the group’s brands to further boost our competitiveness.”
Giovanni Lancieri, CEO of BMR, believes that the acquisition “will allow Italvision products to be integrated with those of Surface Inspection, resulting in a globally unique portfolio of intelligent vision systems”.
“This is a big and exciting step forward for Italvision,” says the company’s CEO Marco Capponi. “Joining the world of SACMI gives us a unique opportunity to position ourselves as a major global player. We look forward to expanding alongside the Group’s other brands and to establishing ourselves in industrial sectors that we have not yet explored.”
