MEC Abrasives joins the Siti B&T Group
The transaction was concluded in March by Diatex, the SITI B&T group company which acquired a 70% stake in MEC Abrasives.
The acquisition of a 70% stake in Verona-based company MEC Abrasives by Siti B&T Group member company Diatex was finalised in March 2021. Valued at 1.2 million euros, the investment is part of the group’s strategic growth plan in the ceramic finishing sector, where it has a strong presence not only with Diatex but also with Ancora.
Established in the late 1990s, MEC Abrasives produces diamond and abrasive tools for lapping, satin finishing, polishing and surface treatment with a product range that complements the group’s existing portfolio for the ceramic industry. One example is fickert tools for full-field lapping, which are necessary to achieve high machine efficiency and consequently lower costs and increased productivity.
The synergies established with Ancora will provide MEC Abrasives with greater support in terms of technical development, resulting in improved product quality and a more precise response to market needs. In the future, MEC Abrasives expects to see strong export growth thanks to the extensive sales networks both of the parent company and of Diatex, which have more than ten branches around the world and provide excellent logistical, technical and commercial support.
This acquisition is part of Siti B&T Group's growth strategy to complete the production range and place the Group among the manufacturers of complete plants serving the world ceramic industry.
